If my sources are right, in heraldry, the gold symbolizes the noblest colour... by contrast, the green symbolizes the less noble colour, and, if this sources are right - well, sincerely, I am talking about wikipedia -, it was the less used colour... I imagine a humble beginnings for this dwarf, and highs destinations for him...
